Lynn Johnston is a literary agent in New York City representing nonfiction and a small selection of fiction. Since 2001, she has represented Pulitzer-winning journalists, media personalities, thought leaders, style-makers and writers, each in their own way, striving to make the world better. Her books have been called "firebreathing" and "righteous" by the New York Times, "exuberant" by O: The Oprah Magazine and "a godsend" by Publishers Weekly and includes national and regional bestsellers, award winners, and “best of year” titles. She has an MBA and BA in Philosophy.

Agent Roundtable with Allison Hunter of Janklow & Nesbit

Allison Hunter began her publishing career in 2005 working for the Los Angeles-based literary publicity firm Kim-from-L.A, and was an agent at InkWell Management and the Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency before joining Janklow & Nesbit. Allison’s clients include Rosie Walsh, author of the New York Times bestselling novel GHOSTED, as well as memoirists, journalists and various experts in their field. She was also thrilled to work with InkWell client Lena Dunham on her bestselling memoir NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL.

She is actively acquiring literary and commercial fiction, especially women's fiction, as well as memoir, narrative nonfiction, cultural studies and pop culture. She is always looking for funny female writers, great love stories, campus novels, family epics, smart beach reads and for non-fiction projects that speak to the current cultural climate. Allison has a B.A. in American Studies and Creative Writing from Stanford University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, she lives in Brooklyn.

Jamie Carr joined The Book Group in January 2020 as an agent. Prior, she worked in the literary department of William Morris Endeavor for almost six years. Born and raised in Lower Manhattan, she has an MFA in fiction writing and began her career in the books department of Tin House. Most interested in adult literary and upmarket commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction, she is drawn to writing that is highly transporting and that seeks to disrupt or reframe what appears to be known.

Stephanie is looking for narrative driven fiction and, in nonfiction, lifestyle & health, memoir, history, popular science, and outdoor / nature / adventure titles. She represents a select number of middle grade books, mainly in nonfiction. Stephanie's recent projects include David Coggins' New York Times best seller Men and Style (Abrams) and Joy Rhoades' debut novel The Woolgrower's Companion (Penguin Random House).  Stephanie also curates for an organization that fights for gender equity and diversity for artists and writers.
