Agent Roundtable: Amy Tannenbaum & Kathy Schneider of Jane Rotrosen

  • Paragraph 35 West 14th Street New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

November's roundtable at Paragraph will feature two agents from the Jane Rotrosen Agency who have represented authors of general-interest fiction and nonfiction since 1974. The agency's client list reflects a diversity of interests as rich as the marketplace including best sellers in every genre, in every format, in countries around the world.

Amy Tannenbaum began her book publishing career with a brief stint at Harlequin where she edited romances that were far more entertaining than the books she read while earning her English degree at Wesleyan University. She then joined Atria Books, where she edited a diverse list of bestselling non-fiction and fiction books. Her list includes bestsellers in contemporary romance, psychological suspense, thrillers, and new adult. Amy is particularly interested in those genres, as well as women’s fiction that falls into that sweet spot between literary and commercial, memoir, narrative and prescriptive non-fiction in the areas of health, business, pop culture, humor, and popular psychology.

Kathy Schneider has spent over 30 years in the publishing industry, from managing an independent bookstore in Princeton, N.J., to developing marketing campaigns at Crown, Random House, and Miramax Books. Most recently, she spent 11 years as SVP and Associate Publisher at HarperCollins where she oversaw marketing, publicity, and publishing duties for numerous New York Times bestsellers including titles by Madeleine Albright, Anderson Cooper, Mitch Albom, Louise Erdrich, and Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee, to name a few. She is seeking non-fiction projects covering relationships, wellness, humor, business, and memoir, as well as upmarket adult fiction that entertains and inspires, thrillers, and creative psychological suspense.
