On Friday, January 30 Paragraph members Kavita Das and Catherine Stine shared their work at Paragraph’s monthly KGB reading series.
Kavita Das worked in the social change sector for fifteen years on issues ranging from homelessness, to public health disparities, to most recently, racial justice. She now focuses on writing about cross-cultural issues and is at work on a biography about Grammy-nominated Hindustani singer, Lakshmi Shankar. Her work has been published in NBCNews.com, The Margins, The Feminist Wire, Quartz, The Aerogram, The Rumpus, Colorlines, Thought Catalog, and The Sun. Kavita resides in NYC with her husband and their beloved hound Gavin and can also be found in the Twitterverse @kavitamix
Catherine Stine writes new adult novels under the pseudonym Kitsy Clare. She loves writing about the sexy intrigue of the city and of the art world. She knows it well, having shown her paintings in the city before turning to writing. Her Art of Love series includes Model Position and Private Internship, set in the now defunct Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She also writes YA as Catherine Stine. Her futuristic thriller, Ruby’s Fire was a YA finalist in the Next Generation Indie book awards. Fireseed One, its companion novel, was a finalist in YA and Sci-Fi in the USA News International Book Awards, and an Indie Reader notable. Her YA horror, Dorianna, launched this fall with Evernight Teen.
