On May 29th, members Jeremy Hutchins, Sophie Jaff and Diane Mehta shared their work at KGB Bar for the Paragraph monthly member reading series. The reading also featured the final installment of Write Your Way Into My Heart: A Paragraph-inspired Five-Minute Soap Opera by Kirsten Major.

Jeremy Hutchins
Jeremy Hutchins is a cartoonist and graphic novelist. He wrote Loving the Cheney Within, a cartoon self help book about Dick Cheney, published by Penguin/Plume. Jeremy is currently working on a graphic novel about the transatlantic slave trade and the Boston Busing Crisis.
A native of South Africa, Sophie Jaff is an alumna of the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University and a fellow at the Dramatist Guild. Sophie was the bookwriter/lyricist for the children's musical A Shelter in Our Car, written with Robert L. Wilson, which the New York Times called a "poignant, sensitively written and buoyant show." Sophie's work has also been performed at The Library of Performing Arts, Lincoln Center, The Duplex, The Gershwin and Goodspeed Musicals. Her musical Erika's Wall, written with Dr. Kathleen Tagg, was given a full developmental production by the Music Theatre Company in Chicago.
Sophie's first children's book The Adventures of Lula the Discontented Cow was published in 2005 (Human & Rousseau). She was the Dungeon Master (Head Writer and Creative Director) for the online Internet game Shadowtale where she wrote over 800,000 words of content. Her most recent novel Love is Red, part of the Nightsong Trilogy, will be available May 12 and is published by Harper Collins.
Diane Mehta is an essayist, poet, and novelist who lives in Brooklyn. She has a small book about poetry, and is writing a historical novel about a mixed-race couple set in 1946-7 Bombay. Her work is in Slate, the Literary Review, the Paris Review Daily, the Believer, Foreign Policy, Subtropics, and many other magazines. She’s also the roundtable coordinator for VIDA, the feminist literary arts organization.
