On Friday, November 20, Paragraph members Robin Eileen Bernstein, Cynthia Carssow, and Katie Halper read from their recent work as part of the Paragraph Reading Series.
Robin Eileen Bernstein is an award-winning speechwriter, corporate ghostwriter and content provider, as well as a journalist and essayist. She is part of the essay-reading group, Living Out Loud. One of her essays was a Salon Editor’s Pick. Her byline has appeared in Newsday, CBS HealthWatch, Salute and other national publications. Cindy Carssow holds an MA from Our Lady of the Lake University in speech pathology, and an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. She also holds a certificate of clinical competence from the America Speech-Language Hearing Association, specializing in early emerging language. She has worked as an editor for the Lumina Literary Journal and has been featured in MORE Magazine. Currently she is turning her master’s thesis into a book about her inventor-father based on newspaper clippings, magazine articles, photos, and interviews.
Katie Halper is a comedian, writer, filmmaker and former history teacher. She performs around the country and her writing and videos have been published by The New York Times, Comedy Central, The Nation Magazine, Gawker, Nerve, Jezebel, the Huffington Post, Alternet, Raw Story and Feministing.
