Sergio de la Pava is the author of A Naked Singularity and Personae. He is a public defender in New York City. In 2008, de la Pava self-published his first novel, A Naked Singularity through XLibris and The University of Chicago Press published it in paperback in April 2012. The book was named one of the ten best works of fiction of 2012 by The Wall Street Journal. A Naked Singularity went on to win the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize from PEN as the best debut novel of that year. On February 10, 2014, it was named one of eight books on the shortlist for the inaugural Folio Prize for the best book published in the United Kingdom in 2013. His latest novel, Lost Empress, is is forthcoming from Pantheon (May 8).
Hermione Hoby grew up in Bromley, south London and graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge in 2007 with a double first in English Literature. After working at the Guardian and Observer, she moved to New York where she’s lived since 2010. Her first novel, Neon in Daylight, was published by Catapult in January 2018 to critical acclaim. A two times New York Times Editors’ choice, the book was praised as “luminous and wonderful” by the LA Review of Books and hailed as “a radiant first novel” by New York Times critic Parul Sehgal, who compared it to the works of Joan Didion and Renata Adler.
